Insulin resistance

Insulin Resistance

Insulin resistance causes a cascade of problems:

  • Inflammation to cells
  • Damage to mitochondria the power station of cell and body energy
  • Food cannot be utilized properly (Metabolic Impairment Syndrome)
  • Carbohydrate starvation
  • Sugar cannot get inside cells to be used for energy
  • Added damage to cells
  • Toxins and acids accumulate (hydroxybutyric acid, lactic acid, ketones
  • Diuresis and loss of minerals
  • Loss of potassium and magnesium
  • Lower bicarbonate level
  • Anion gap acidosis
  • Metabolic acidosis
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome

If severe, diabetic coma and irreversible spinal acidosis and dehydration, hypotension, or death may occur.   There is a vicious cycle syndrome of Insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance causes inflammation, inflammation causes more insulin resistance.  Insulin resistance causes obesity, obesity causes inflammation, etc.
